Poll: Most Hispanic Voters Don’t Think A Path To Citizenship Is Solution

More than 60 percent of registered Hispanic voters do not think a pathway to citizenship for illegals would benefit the country, and most do not see it as the best way to solve the country’s immigration problems, a new poll shows. --Of the 62 percent who felt a pathway to citizenship for illegals would not benefit the country, 33 percent felt it would hurt the economy, 7 percent felt it would overly burden public schools and 10 percent felt it would create public safety issues, the McKeon & Associates Wednesday poll found. --“The economy is still the issue,” Michael McKeon told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “When 33 percent think immigration will hurt the economy, that’s what’s on their mind.”

Republican Debates

TUESDAY, Oct. 9: Republican Candidates gather in Dearborn, Michigan. The debate airs at 6:00 p.m. on MSNBC.

There is another Republican debate slated for October 21st in Florida where candidates will focus in part on Hispanic issues. Jeb Bush, former FL Governor, said, “I am disappointed in my party as it relates to the tone of the immigration debate; that was really troubling. Our nominee will have to work hard to repair the damage.” Perhaps this debate will get a better conversation going. (Hat Tip: Luis Clemens at LaPolitica)

Thomas Lifson, at American Thinker, has a short piece titled "Contest for the Hispanic Vote." He believes the GOP has a shot at 'garnering' the Hispanic vote. He writes, "Those Hispanics who legally vote are likely to be interested seeing that their hard work gets rewarded, and embrace family values, for example. In California, where I live, there is an ongoing explosion of entrepreneurial activity. And the extraordinarily proud record of Mexican-Americans in the United States Military speaks volumes about values." Read More......
