White House’s lies on Iran deal is humiliating for Chuck Schumer
(Hat tip: KimR) - We hope Sens. Chuck Schumer, Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand are giving that devastating new profile of President Obama’s foreign-policy guru a careful read. --Because they’ll learn how they were all played for fools on the Iran nuclear deal by that aide, Ben Rhodes — and the president. Chilling: Netanyahu Glares at UN Delegates for 45 Seconds for Their 'Deafening Silence' on Iran Deal
At the United Nations General Assembly Thursday in New York City, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu renewed his warning about Iran’s path to a nuclear bomb. Considering the recent passage of the nuclear agreement with Iran, the prime minister’s comments were especially powerful. “Iran is setting up dozens of terror cells,” Netanyahu said. “Imagine what they will do after the sanctions are lifted.”

Why GOP Congressional Leaders Support the Iran Deal in Fact — Follow the Money
‘Why on earth would Republicans do that?” That is a question I’ve been asked at least a dozen times since illustrating that the GOP has played a cynical game in connection with President Obama’s Iran deal. “Follow the money” is a common answer to questions about political motivation. It may not explain everything in this case, but it is certainly relevant.

Dershowitz: Undemocratic Tactics and Bigoted Arguments Have Stifled Iran Nuclear Deal Debate
When I was growing up, “filibuster” was a dirty word. It was a tactic used by bigoted southern Senators to prevent the enactment of any civil rights legislation. I recall Senator Strom Thurman babbling on for 24 hours in an effort to keep the south racially segregated. We regarded the filibuster as the enemy of democracy and the weapon of choice against civil rights. --Yet, President Obama and his followers in the senate deployed this undemocratic weapon in order to stifle real debate about the nuclear deal with Iran and to prevent the up or down vote promised by the Corker bill.

McConnell Rejects Iran Delay
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is dismissing a House Republican Hail-Mary attempt to kill the Iran nuclear deal by postponing a vote on a disapproval resolution. --House conservatives want to delay the vote and argue that the 60-day congressional review period has not yet elapsed because the administration has yet to submit paperwork detailing “side deals” between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

A glorious defeat
Sometimes you have to fight battles you cannot win because fighting — regardless of the outcome — advances a larger cause. --Israel's fight against the nuclear deal the major powers, led by US President Barack Obama concluded with Iran was such a battle.

Sen. Merkley Joins Pro-Iran Deal Camp
Oregon's Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley on Sunday announced his support for the Iran nuclear deal. --This puts the number of supporters of the deal at 31, just three short of the 34 needed to make sure that if Congress passes a resolution of disapproval against the deal and President Barack Obama vetoes it, the veto cannot be overridden by Congress. --Merkley acknowledged that the deal has "significant shortcomings.”

Obama's last hope for GOP support on Iran: Susan Collins

McConnell concedes that Obama has 'a great likelihood of success' on Iran deal
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that he hoped Congress could override a veto of a resolution that disapproves of President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with the Iranians, but he acknowledged the president still had "a great likelihood of success." --In remarks to the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, McConnell said he hoped "to have a respectful, uplifting debate" when the Senate returns to vote on the resolution.

My Position on the Iran Deal (Sen. Chuck Schumer)
Every several years or so a legislator is called upon to cast a momentous vote in which the stakes are high and both sides of the issue are vociferous in their views. --Over the years, I have learned that the best way to treat such decisions is to study the issue carefully, hear the full, unfiltered explanation of those for and against, and then, without regard to pressure, politics or party, make a decision solely based on the merits. --I have spent the last three weeks doing just that: carefully studying the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, reading and re-reading the agreement and its annexes, questioning dozens of proponents and opponents, and seeking answers to questions that go beyond the text of the agreement but will have real consequences that must be considered.
