American Uprising
Everything is about to change!
This wasn’t an election. It was a revolution.
It’s midnight in America. The day before fifty million Americans got up and stood in front of the great iron wheel that had been grinding them down. They stood there even though the media told them it was useless. They took their stand even while all the chattering classes laughed and taunted them.
They were fathers who couldn’t feed their families anymore. They were mothers who couldn’t afford health care. They were workers whose jobs had been sold off to foreign countries. They were sons who didn’t see a future for themselves. They were daughters afraid of being murdered by the “unaccompanied minors” flooding into their towns. They took a deep breath and they stood.
They held up their hands and the great iron wheel stopped.

On Ronald Reagan's 101st Birthday, His Legacy Lives On
Today marks President Ronald Reagan's 101st birthday. Born in Tampico, Illinois, Reagan made his journey west to Iowa as a radio broadcaster, then on to California to take Hollywood by storm. He crossed America as a spokesman for General Electric, and then -- after discovering the import of conservative values -- entered the political arena, where he would ultimately lead his fellow citizens out of a wilderness of self-doubt, helping the country come to see that it could be morning in America once again.

Ron Paul's Full Speech at CPAC 2011: The Brushfires of Freedom Are Burning! (2/11/2011)
LATIMES.COM, Washington Bureau, 2/12/1011 by Michael A. Memoli - Ron Paul of Texas wins CPAC presidential straw poll: Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) got 30% of the vote to win the straw poll for the second year in a row at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Mitt Romney was second with 23%. Reporting from Washington — Ron Paul again triumphed in the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference, overwhelming the support for most other potential Republican candidates at the annual gathering of conservatives in the nation's capital. ∴ Paul, a Republican congressman from Texas who ran for president in 2008, edged former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 30% to 23%. The result was barely changed from last year's, when Paul won 31% to 22%. Read More......
President Lincoln's Press Conference
Last night, February 12th, President Abraham Lincoln held a Press Conference at the Linn & Benton County Republican's Lincoln Day Dinner in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center in Corvallis, Oregon. It was his birthday. He began the conference with his own remarks and then took questions from the Press (the guests). Due to the seriousness of his message, all present could have heard a pin drop as he spoke. The president contended that the abolition of slavery was indeed the reason for the war between the states. He felt it was biblical, that the country was unable to avoid war and that it was a punishment for the sin of slavery. He reported on the progress of the war and about his choice of disappointing generals to lead the union. One and all could see the great personal toll it took on him over the horrible loss of life as the war wore on. Yet one could see a little colour returning to his gaunt face when he spoke of eventual victories. The President talked about the ugly reception his Emancipation Proclamation received. Some called him a tyrant or worse. The Abolitionists were furious that it did not inclued all slaves. Mr. Lincoln brought out his spectacles to read the brief remarks he'd made at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The gathered press corps could hardly agree with Mr. Lincoln's assessment that his concise words would not long be remembered. Finally, the president explained why, under extreme criticism, he refused to hang the Generals and leaders of the Confederacy in an effort to heal the nation at war's end.
Mr. Steve Holgate of Portland, is the actor who so passionately and truly portrays President Lincoln. A number of guests asked about his next scheduled event. Mr. Holgate will be presenting a longer version of President Lincoln at the Coaster Theater (MAP) in Cannon Beach, Oregon on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. (Whichever way you go to Cannon Beach, you'll want to come home via Newport and Corvallis, unless you want to spend the night. The tunnel on Hwy 26 will be closed during night-time hours due to roadwork.)
For the members of the Lincoln Day Dinner Committee, it was a wonderful pleasure to host Mr. Holgate and his lovely wife, Felicia. From the feedback we've received, our guests were impressed.
The Committee offers its gratitude to all the members of the press (our guests) who contributed to the success of the evening. We thank you for generously supporting the 'buy it now' tables, the silent auction and the oral auction. We hope you enjoyed the evening. Read More......

Reagan or Obama
INSPIRE AND IGNITE/Just a Thought, 12/10/2010 by Josiah Hill - How’s that bigger government is better idea working out for the American people? ∴ Let’s look at the recovery the country enjoyed under Reagan and compare it to the one we’re currently experiencing under Obama. ∴ Since the current recession ended in June of 09 according to the experts, we’ve now had 15 months of the Obama recovery. How does it compare to the first 14 months of the Reagan recovery? ∴ These figures come from government records and not any biased third party:
- Consumer confidence: Reagan 103.9 / Obama 53.5
Average GDP growth: Reagan 7.7% / Obama 3%
Unemployment rate: Reagan 8% / Obama 9.6%

A Republican President issued the Emancipation Proclamation
"On this day in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln (R-IL) issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Effective at yearend, all slaves in Confederate-controlled territory would be "forever free." ∴ Ill-informed critics of the first Republican President Lincoln fault the Emancipation Proclamation for only freeing slaves in areas not yet under the control of the U.S. government, but -- because of the Democratic Party's resolute defense of slavery -- the federal government had the necessary authority only over so-called "property" of the rebels. ∴ Within two years, the Republican-controlled 38th Congress followed up this great advance by enacting the 13th Amendment, banning slavery throughout the nation."

Calvin Coolidge Speech, 1926
In 1926, President Calvin Coolidge gave a speech of ‘unsurpassed clarity’ on the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence when the ‘progressive attack on America’s principles’ was still in its initial phase. Excerpt:

About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can NOT lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.Reference to speech: We Still Hold These Truths by Matthew Spalding, pg. 120.

Obama's Speech to America's K-12 classrooms
Read the script for President Obama's school speech HERE. Here's my favorite line:
"Where you are right now doesn't have to determine where you'll end up. No one's written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future. That's what young people like you are doing every day, all across America."Read More......

Bill would give president emergency control of Internet
CNET, 8/28/2009 - Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet. ∴ They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency. ∴ The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license. June/July Polling: Good News for GOP
GOP.com, July 27, 2007 - Polls from June and July show that the Presidents' approval rating is trending upward while the U.S. Congress, under the control of Democrats, is moving downward rather drastically. President Bush’s approval rating is higher than that of Congress in most recent national polls and Republicans are gaining ground on the economy.
Americans feel the state of the economy is positive, as 54% rate it as very or fairly good (CBS/NYT, 7/17). Also, the GOP is regaining its lead on taxes, with a plurality (46%) saying Republicans would better handle taxes (Battleground, 7/18) and a majority (57%) wanting to make President Bush’s income tax cuts permanent (CNN/Opinion Research, 5/6). Finally, voters oppose Congressional earmarks and pork spending, with 67% telling CBS adding this to legislation is “not acceptable” (6/28). See the poll results here!Read More......
