A Letter to My African-American Daughter, and a Response to Ta-Nehisi Coates
This month, Ta-Nehisi Coates published Between the World and Me, a powerful collection of essays written in the form of letters to his teenage son. The book is a sensation on the left, and it is full of rage and even hate. Rather than write a conventional review of the book, I thought I’d respond with my own letter, written to my seven-year-old African-American daughter. --Dearest Naomi, So far, it’s the small moments that are hard to explain. Like this summer, when we walked past a young black man in Manhattan. He was frustrated. Cab drivers were zooming past him, refusing to stop. He stood in the street, hand raised, but no one would slow down. Finally, a white woman shook her head, walked into the street, and instantaneously hailed a cab. She held the door open for him, apologized, and said, “One day, things will change.”

Dr. Benjamin Carson's Amazing Speech at the National Prayer Breakfast
Dr. Benjamin Carson, Pediatric Neurosurgeon and Division Head at John Hopkins Hospital, gave a speech that has received criticism from the Left for 'inappropriateness' and raves from many on the Right at the Fellowship Foundation's National Prayer Breakfast held at the White House last week. With President and Mrs. Obama looking on, Dr. Carson used bible references, American history, personal experiences, de Tocqueville and a parable to say that America is on the wrong course. Dr. Carson warned of the dangers of Political Correctness and how it stifles the exchange of ideas, understanding, and freedom of speech. He talked about 'fairness' in taxation through a biblical proportional system. He spoke of the importance of education and how destructive and costly today's dumbed-down education is while describing the successes of his Carson Scholars Fund. He spoke about Health Savings Accounts and how they can improve health and the health care system. In Carson's soft spoken manner he delivered the antithesis of Obama's vision for America. The
Wall Street Journal wrote about the speech under the title, "Ben Carson for President."YouTube Video: Dr. Benjamin Carson's Amazing Speech at the National Prayer Breakfast (27:31)

Glenn Beck: Fundamental Transformation
America is at a crossroads. We have known this for 10 years now but after each tragic event or “bubble” America has gone back to sleep because we wanted to believe that we could have it all and “it just isn’t as bad as they say.” Our gut however, has told us that it was time to wake up and use what used to be known as “common sense.” It is what Americans from all points of the political compass meant when focus groups gave every politician the presidential campaign slogan, change.
After spending years, and thousands of man-hours, in research, reflection, and prayer, my team and I have come to realize that a “Fundamental Transformation” is required. While it is just as powerful, it’s also the polar opposite of what President Obama touted last election. President Obama and the progressive ruling class of both parties believe in the collective planned society. I believe America’s answers are to be found with, by, and in the individual American honestly pursuing happiness not in 2,000 page bills.
If one is looking for a “collective” based solution it can be found in the phrase: America is great because America is good. When we look for our answers in Washington we ask our politicians or parties to “make us good.” They cannot. But we can, must, and will. The secret our Founders understood was that America is good because individual Americans are honest, just, thrifty, responsible, educated, charitable and God fearing. Romney Speaks Out on his Faith
From BCRW Dec. posts
(Watch Romney's speech here)
Glenn Beck Program, December 6, 2007 - Glenn Beck says,
"The day the mainstream media was waiting for finally came as Mitt Romney gave his much anticipated speech on Faith in America. It was a tremendous speech, and one that he felt he had to give because he is constantly asked about his faith while on the campaign trail. They are not innocent questions either, they are ones with an agenda, such as 'Do you believe in Jesus Christ?'. Who else gets that question? No one. What that question really means is 'Mormons aren't Christians, right?'. Here was his answer to that question: "I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the savior of mankind'. Romney also addressed Mormons 'different' doctrines that the media seems so afraid of. 'Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history . . . Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree.
Seems as though the mainstream media is all for tolerance -- except when it's a conservative in question, then we need to point out how evil their differences are." Read More......
