Ben Rhodes Isn't a Master Manipulator, the Media Wants to be Manipulated
(Hat tip: KimR) - The mediasphere is boiling after the New York Times ran a piece on Ben Rhodes, Obama's foreign policy guru, a failed writer who openly boasted about manipulating the media. It was full of quotes like this... “All these newspapers used to have foreign bureaus,” he said. “Now they don’t. They call us to explain to them what’s happening in Moscow and Cairo. Most of the outlets are reporting on world events from Washington. The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That’s a sea change. They literally know nothing.” Read more at Frontpage Magazine

Charge: FEC Dems would ban Drudge, NYT, free media on election eve
(Hat tip: KimR) - The war between Republicans and Democrats on the politically splintered Federal Election Commission flared late Monday when a Republican commissioner and former chairman charged that the panel's Democrats want to regulate the press and end free election media. Losing Influence: 6 Great DC Media Failures of 2015
We will never be fully rid of the DC Media. Like the garbage-in/manure-out maggots they are, the DC Media will always be a rancid part of the circle of political life. The political left is, if nothing else, relentless, and they will never fully give up the propaganda perch that is this corrupt institution. --That doesn’t mean that the righteous war to politically-exterminate them should be any less relentless, because it is already resulting in quantifiable benefits. The influence these serial-liars once enjoyed to sway public opinion and set the parameters of the national debate, is evaporating.

Carr: More dead Americans, cue killer sob stories
Meet the new tousle-haired terrorist, same as the old tousle-haired terrorist. It had to happen, right? Can the cover of Rolling Stone be far behind
for Mohammod Youssuf
Abdulazeez, the latest pot-smoking foreign-born Muslim terrorist to murder Americans in cold blood? --“This guy actually
reminds me of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev,” chirped CNN anchor Carol Costello. “Good-looking guy. Everybody liked him. He was popular in high school. Very well-educated. Both of them were wrestlers, and then something happened.”

Greenfield: Republicans Must Stop Letting the Media Manipulate Them
Groucho Marx used to ask contestants, “Have you stopped beating your wife?” --A number of Republican candidates showed that they still hadn’t mastered that one when the media came asking them about the Confederate flag in South Carolina. --Like so many chumps undone by Groucho, they thought that they were showing off how noble they were, when all they did was answer, “Yes, I did stop beating my wife. And I mostly oppose it now.”

Bloomberg To Launch Proprietary Anti-Gun Media Arm
The ceaseless torrent of anti-gun commentary from the New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, and other “mainstream” media outlets, apparently isn’t enough for billionaire firearm prohibitionist Michael Bloomberg. On May 8, Capital reported that the ex-mayor of New York is developing a “news operation” to work alongside his Everytown for Gun Safety organization in furtherance of his megalomaniacal gun control agenda.

The Assassination of Scott Walker By The Coward Liberal Media
We all knew this was coming: liberal attacks on Gov. Scott Walker for not having a college degree. In 1990, Walker decided to drop out of Marquette University during the spring semester of his senior year - a decision that’s mystified the political left. But then there’s former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, who–as Dan wrote it will. Scott Walker, were he to become president, would be the first president in many generations who did not have a college degree. So the issue here is not just the issue of dancing around the question of evolution for political reasons, the issue is, how well educated is this guy?"

This is emblematic of the politics of condescension and elitism that’s fraught within American liberalism; that one is not qualified for any public office lest he be a college graduate (preferably from an elite school) and has acquired a lexicon that shocks the masses.

Hate Speech Leads to Hate Crimes
America and the West are subjected nonstop to a barrage of hate speech from the intelligentsia. Hate speech leads to hate crimes, here as everywhere. Few people have faced up to the extent of the hate crimes and hate speech against the West. The murder of the two New York City policemen Saturday is only the tip of the iceberg. Literally thousands of inciters have propagated a dishonest storyline of widespread police violence against blacks. And what we’ve seen in recent months is only the current instance in a long history of incitement against the West. A view of the West as enemy is cultivated in universities across the country as the cutting edge of moral thinking, with full rein given to a very un-academic manner of speech, replete with the colorful language of vilification. From these heights, the same attitudes inevitably seep into other venues, including textbooks for much younger students.

Gresham bakery: example of why people mistrust the media
By Dan Lucas
Gallup reported a year ago that distrust in the media had hit a new high, with 60% saying they had little or no trust in newspapers, TV and radio when it came to reporting the news fully, accurately and fairly. ✧ A recent example in Oregon shows why there is that distrust. ✧ The example involves the Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery in Gresham. In January the bakery said they wouldn’t bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple for a same-sex marriage, as it violated their religious beliefs. The bakery had previously sold a wedding cake to the same lesbian couple when the wedding cake wasn’t for a same-sex marriage, and the bakery does sell their cakes to gays and lesbians, just not for same-sex marriages. Find out what the press 'didn't report' at Oregon Catalyst... Read More......

Top Ten Obamacare Horror Stories the Media are Covering Up
John Nolte at Breitbart News writes, "Because the mainstream media lobbied every bit as hard as Obama to win passage of ObamaCare, they are every bit as invested in doing whatever is necessary to see that it is perceived as a success. Unfortunately for Americans who expect truth from their media, this means the media are having to manufacture a false reality that says ObamaCare is, to steal a phrase, 'doing fine.' ✧ In order to manufacture this phony reality, the media must further sell their blackened soul by violating one of their most cherished principals: reporting on how government policy hits America's weakest the hardest. It's just a fact that the worst fallout of ObamaCare is already landing hard on the working class, who are losing work hours, jobs, and their insurance." Read more at Breitbart...

Wretchard at the Belmont Club has a fair description of today's forum with an interesting discussion in the comments section. In part, Wretchard wrote,
Both Bollinger and Ahmedinajad broadcast their messages on a platform which grabbed the attention of the world. But what was said on that platform will be selectively quoted and amplified in a process that favors Ahmedinajad's signal over Bollinger's. The amplifying circuitry of the media will ensure that an anti-Israel, anti-American message will get more than a fair airing. Few will read the exchange verbatim. If Bollinger thinks that a few barbed questions, a few provocative statements; that a little defiance can compensate for giving the Iranian dictator an opportunity to emit a signal which is even now being tweaked and boosted to fit established talking points, he is mistaken. The medium is the massage. What works in the classroom doesn't always work on the larger world stage.Read More......

WaPo’s New Political Graphic
Warner Todd Houston’s May 13, 2007 post at NewsBusters points out the Washington Post’s new election coverage graphic. He writes,
It is a graphic of an elephant's and donkey's heads placed together to denote the two parties that seems vaguely obscene at first glance. There is nothing wrong with that concept, of course, as such a graphic idea has been made and remade hundreds of times since the mid 1800 and the birth of the GOP. But, the Post's graphic is curious in it's design. Here it is...Read More......Now, take a casual look at it, or perhaps squint a bit at it. Doesn't it look like you are looking at a drawing of a donkey with it's rear end facing you, as if it is looking back at you over its haunches? Notice how the rear end is ACTUALLY the face of the elephant? Doesn't the trunk of the elephant look like the donkey's right, rear leg? Doesn't the curve of the ear of the elephant look like the donkey's tail? And the eye of the elephant is the donkey's.... well... not an "eye" exactly?
I wonder if the graphics guys at the Washington Post thought it might be funny to make the elephant's head the donkey's rear end? As a graphic artist myself, I cannot eliminate the possible symbolism, especially coming from the editorial position of the Post!
In any case, you look and you decide. As for me, I have already done so.

An Act of Bravery... Not Told
Blackfive, May 9, 2007
Milblogger, Blackfive, is disgruntled that no media attention was given to a very special event which took place eight weeks ago recognizing a soldiers' incredible act of bravery while serving in Mosul, Iraq in November of 2005. "On February 26th, 2007, Army PFC Stephen C. Sanford received the Distinguished Service Cross, second only to the Medal of Honor, for his courage and valor." We should have been made aware of this. Please read the account of this man's astounding act and pass it on.

Prescription for Bias
Networks Downplay Drug Costs, Treat Medicine as Entitlement

Business & Media Institute: Executive Summary by Ken Shepherd and Amy Menefee
Medical breakthroughs don’t grow on trees, but network news rarely admits it. In a new BMI study, nearly 80 percent of the stories on prescription drugs left out the drug companies entirely. Journalists emphasized consumers’ costs and company profits, largely ignoring companies’ investment to create life-saving medicines. Read the Special Report...Read More......

How the Left Intimidates the Media
AIM Special Report March 19, 2007, By Cliff Kincaid -- Environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was recently paid $20,000 by Virginia Tech to tell the students that there aren't two sides to the global warming debate and that the problem with the media today is that we don't have a fairness doctrine. Those positions, which sound contradictory, betray the modern liberal agenda. They want to bring back the fairness doctrine not to ensure true fairness and balance in journalism but to intimidate and censor those expressing a view contrary to their own. Continued at AIM...
