Republicans,The 2008 filing deadline for candidates is just one week away. March 11 is the deadline, and candidate voters' pamphlet submissions must be in by March 13.

Here is a rundown on offices up for election this year, along with Republicans who have filed:

Benton Co. Commissioner, position 2 [incumbent--Jay Dixon (D)] No Republican has filed
Benton Co. Commissioner, position 3 [incumbent--Annabella Jaramillo (D)] Chris Nusbaum, former Mayor of Philomath, has filed.

Oregon House of Representatives, District 16 [incumbent--Sarah Gelser (D)] No Republican has filed

We encourage those who are interested in running for public office to call our Republican Party chair, John Bell (758 4939). John will help interested Republicans make this important step forward toward better government in Benton County and in Oregon.
