Baltimore Cops’ Attorneys Just Made Two Explosive Claims In Freddie Gray Case

The defense attorneys for the six Baltimore cops charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray made two explosive claims in a court motion filed on Thursday. According to The Baltimore Sun, the officers’ attorneys are claiming that the office of Baltimore city state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby has evidence that the 25-year-old Gray had “attempted to injure himself” in police custody prior to his April 12 arrest. They also claim that Mosby had a “private meeting” with the medical examiner who conducted Gray’s autopsy days before the report was released.

By Rich Lowry - President Barack Obama responded to the Baltimore riots with a heartfelt bout of self-righteous hectoring. ✧ Supposedly, we all know what’s wrong with Baltimore and how to fix it, but don’t care enough. Not only is this attitude highhanded, it rests on a flagrantly erroneous premise. ✧ President Obama doesn’t have the slightest idea how to fix Baltimore. His solutions fall back on liberal bromides going back 50 years. Dating back to the Kerner Commission after the riots of the 1960s, the Left’s go-to solution to urban problems has been more social programs. Since then, we’ve gotten more social programs — and just as many urban problems. ✧ Exhibit A is Baltimore itself. The city hasn’t been “neglected.” It has been misgoverned into the ground.

It’s Time for Black America to Blame Black America

Where are the black fathers in Baltimore? They don‘t exist. I saw black mothers in the streets. I saw black male teens. But no black fathers trying to keep their kids off the streets and away from violence. Where is Barack Obama? Our nation’s first black president has been silent as blacks tear apart a major America city. He’s quick to weigh in and assign blame every time one black kid gets shot by a white cop. But not a word on the day thousands of blacks rampage and terrorize a city? Not a word ever about black-on-black crime? As of Tuesday, after most of the damage has been done, Obama finally issued a statement condemning the violence. A day late, a dollar short and still no interest in “boots on the ground” to calm the crisis. Where is the black mayor of Baltimore?
