Roseburg Rally Goes Viral, Patriots Standing Nationwide

It’s been roughly 36 hours since a patriot in Oregon—local activist Casey Runyan—posted on Facebook to say that “on Friday, we assemble.” Runyan’s words were a direct call to patriots in the Pacific NW to stand with citizens in Roseburg who have already made it clear that Obama is not welcome there for his planned visit on Friday. The call was regional…but the answer was national. The rally went viral. Not even the mainstream Obama cheering section can ignore it anymore.

Krista Branch: "I Am America"

"I Am America" was written by Mike Branch, a children's pastor , and sung by his wife, Krista Branch. Krista was interviewed by Lars Larson on July 14, 2010 and has appeared on Fox News. The song and video is going viral on YouTube and as an iTunes singles release. The Huffington Post asks if I Am America should become the Tea Party anthem. Lyrics:

Lyrics: I Am America

Pay no attention to the people in the street,
Crying out for accountability.
Make a joke of what we believe;
Say we don’t matter ‘cuz you disagree.
Pretend you’re kings, sit on your throne;
Look down your nose at the peasants below.

I’ve got some news: We’re taking names –
We’re waiting now for the judgment day.

I am America:
One voice, United we stand.
I am America:
One hope to heal our land;
There is still work that must be done.
I will not rest until we’ve won.
I am America.

You preach your tolerance but lecture me.
Is there no_ end to your own hypocrisy?
Your god is power; you have no shame;
Your only interest is political gain.

You hide your eyes and refuse to listen;
You play your games and abuse the system.
You stuff your pockets while Rome is burning –
I’ve got a feeling that the tide is turning.

I am America:
One voice, United we stand.
I am America:
One hope to heal our land.
I will not give up on this fight.
I will not fade into the night.
I am America.

You stuff your pockets while Rome is burning –
I’ve got a feeling that the tide is turning.

I am America:
One voice, United we stand.
I am America:
One hope to heal our land.

I am America:
One voice, United we stand.
I am America:
One hope to heal our land.
I will not give up on this fight.
I will not fade into the night.
I am America.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (King James Version)

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

What's wrong with this history?

Corvallis Gazette-Times, Letters to the Editor, Monday, October 29, 2007

Mocking liberals disrespects America’s proudest patriots

Gordon L. Shadle’s mockery of dissenters and minorities (Letters, Oct. 22nd ) revealed less about his sense of humor than his disregard for history.

His sarcastic words denigrate the memory of patriots such as James Otis, Sam Adams and Tom Paine; dissenters who dragged a reluctant majority to the realization that Americans must determine their own destiny.

His words dismiss Elizabeth Stanton and Susan Anthony; liberal dissenters who withstood blistering abuse from the majority to bring women the right to vote.

His words ridicule Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison and Wendell Phillips; radical abolitionists who knew what the vast majority of Americans refused to acknowledge — that slavery was wrong and must be stopped.

Finally, his words sneer at all who sacrificed their livelihoods and lives for labor reform, social justice and civil rights, including thousands of African Americans lynched for standing up to a vicious and very conservative majority.

Apparently some conservatives like Shadle find it fulfilling to mock the enormous contributions of dissenters and minorities. I shudder to think what our nation would be like without them.
