Haiti: Americans help when disaster strikes

Americans are doing what they always do when disaster strikes anywhere in the world, as it did the afternoon of January 12th in Haiti, when a devastating earthquake measuring 7.0, struck near Port-au-Prince. Americans are reaching deep into their pockets and doing whatever they can to help. The Red Cross estimates that between 45,000 and 50,000 people have died. Many thousands more are missing and feared trapped in the rubble. Disease could take an even greater toll in the aftermath. If you wish to support a reputable relief organization, some recommendations follow:

The Red Cross and Salvation Army. Lars Larson personally vouches for the faith-based Medical Teams International. Hugh Hewitt names four experienced, effective Christian relief organizations at work in Haiti. They are ChildHope.org, BeyondBorders.net, The Haitian-American Friendship Foundation and WorldConcern.org. BCRW Members: If you know of a relief organization you wish to recommend, please click "Email" on the bar above and let us know. We offer our prayers for those affected in Haiti.
