The Most Dangerous Treaties You Know Nothing About

It’s Time for a Moratorium on Chinese Investment

(Hat tip: KimR) - The Shanghai Chinese Tower, in the center of the financial district in Lujiazui, stands 2000 feet above a city of 24 million people and counting. Fittingly, an American firm designed that tower, now the tallest building in China, and itself a symbol of the country’s rise to greatness. As the drive to position Shanghai as one of the world’s leading financial center continues, one wonders why both the U.S. government and American businesses are actively working towards helping China become a global powerhouse that could eclipse the U.S. and undermine Washington’s own global influence. Workers in NY, California Are Guinea Pigs in a Grand Experiment

(Hat tip: KimR) - In a less cynical age, the Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis wrote that each of the 50 states that make up the U.S., "may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.” These days, any reference to states as the “laboratories of Democracy” is as likely as not to be ironic — just Google the phrase plus the word “Kansas” if you need evidence. Abortion Activist Claims Planned Parenthood Videos Caused Raid At His Home

(Hat tip: KimR) - An anti-abortion activist who made undercover videos at Planned Parenthood clinics said in a social media posting that California Department of Justice agents raided his home Tuesday. Vehicular homicide not enough to detain illegal immigrants: DHS

(Hat tip: KimR) - Even being convicted of homicide isn’t enough to ensure illegal immigrants are detained by federal agents, the government’s top deportation official said in a letter to Congress released Monday. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Sarah Saldana said neither Obama administration policy nor federal law required her agency to detain Edwin Mejia, an illegal immigrant who arrived as part of the surge of unaccompanied children from Central America, after he was charged with vehicular homicide in Nebraska. Florida boldly moves to require criminal charges before the government can seize your property

(Hat tip: KimR) - The practice of law enforcement using the property of citizens who have not been convicted of a crime as a revenue source is a scourge which needs to be abolished in this country. Fortunately, much of the burden of making this needed change falls on the states and Florida has taken a step in the right direction. (Reason) Read more at Hotair.com Read More......

Obama Admin Tells Landlords They Can’t Refuse To House Criminals

(Hat tip: KimR) - The Obama administration released a warning Monday telling the nation’s landlords that it may be discriminatory for them to refuse to rent to those with criminal records. The Fair Housing Act doesn’t include criminals as a protected class, but the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) says refusing to rent based on a criminal record is a form of racial discrimination, due to racial imbalances in the U.S. justice system. Obama's Bizarre Iranian Love Affair Continues

(Hat tip: KimR) - The media -- only a very few of whom (like Bloomberg's Eli Lake and our own Michael Ledeen) seem even faintly interested in what is going on with Iran -- is equally complicit and even more culpable in this fascination with the tangential. What the supposed journalists are missing is a chance to solve the greatest mystery of our times -- why Barack Obama decided to sell out those Western interests to Iran... Scotus’ Unconstitutional Lawmaking and Article V

(Hat tip: KimR) - It is no secret that American courts have wandered far outside the business of adjudicating. Every summer, the nation holds its breath in anticipation of the latest batch of scotus opinions. Last June, the questions were: Will homosexual marriage become a right across the land? Is there an unconstitutional penalty within Obamacare, or is it a constitutional tax? Read more at Article V Blog Read More......

Free speech make way; here comes Obama-style regionalism

(Hat tip: KimR) - We have written about how “regionalism” and its handmaiden “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” (AFFH) are, in effect, an attempt by the left to dictate the way Americans will live. Now, we see that they also entail an attempt to tell elected officials what they must say. This has become apparent from efforts to muzzle Westchester Country Executive Rob Astorino. Bad COPP: MT Commission on Political Practices Targets Ideological Opponents

(Hat tip: KimR) - The road trip from the Colorado statehouse to the Capitol building in Montana is about 800 miles, but the psychological distance from a Denver meth-house to the office of Helena’s Commissioner of Political Practices has to be greater than that. And that’s only the beginning of this bizarre story, and just the latest example of partisan public officials using government power to crush their political opponents. Satanism is the perversion of a great religion; Islamism is not

Marxism and Environmentalism: The Unholy Alliance

The Evil of the Scarcity Meme - In order to avoid misunderstanding, let us make clear from the outset that scarcity is an unavoidable fact of life – it is the very thing that impels economic activity. If all material human wants were satisfied and we were living as immortals in the Land of Cockaigne, there would no longer be a reason to plan for the future, to save and invest, and to weigh the opportunity costs of different choices. (Hat tip: KimR) - Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., recently said Congress should “look at moving forward” on legislation to consider reparations for slavery. ISIS copying 19th century German tactics to wage war on the West: Operatives given a deadline to strike targets... then left to it so 'lone wolves' cannot be tied to commanders

(Hat tip: KimR) - Lone wolf jihadis operating in Europe are following a doctrine of 19th century warfare in which they are given a deadline and a target - then sent to attack it by any means necessary. Invoking the Germany Army's historical strategy of Auftragstaktik, the policy helps ISIS carry out attacks abroad when its chain of command is restricted by Western intelligence agencies. the Read more at UK Daily Mail Read More......
