Senate Dem: National debt is not 'a threat to our country'

(Hat tip: KimR) - Senate Democrats on Wednesday couldn't agree that federal debt is a national security problem, in a hearing aimed at assessing the long-term strategic implications of the government's $19 trillion debt. --"A realistic discussion about it, and accepting expert opinion that this debt that we have is not actually right now a threat to our country, is I think a more realistic and honorable way of talking to the American people about it," Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., said during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Wednesday. Read more at the Washington Examiner Read More......

Farrakhan hate fest threatens 'reparations, or else!'

Louis Farrakhan commemorated the 20th anniversary of the so-called “Million Man March” Saturday with the kind of hate fest that would have made the KKK or skinheads proud. The rally was called “Justice or Else!” – a threat aimed at the heart of America. --This demagogue has openly incited violence against whites and police in the lead-up to the event, and a number of speakers Saturday followed suit.

Turkey threatens the major prospects for Eastern Med gas supply

As Europe seeks to diversify its sources of natural gas as an alternative to the politically sensitive Russian supply, a massive off-shore gas source in the Mediterranean is ready for exploration and drilling. There are game-changing stakes at play. --Unfortunately, the Turkish leadership has threatened to use force to stop this from happening.

Poll: Almost half say feds are an 'immediate threat'

Forty-nine percent of people asked in a new Gallup survey say the federal government poses "an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens," and another 19 percent say the federal government is too big in general and puts forth too many laws. --Though this sentiment has been felt by generally the same percentage of Americans for the past five years, fewer than a third of those asked (30 percent) believed it when they were first asked in 2003.

Islamic Extremists Are Trying to Hasten the Coming of the Mahdi

Fourteen years ago — on September 11, 2001 — America was blindsided by the forces of radical Islam. Pre-9/11, American leaders rightly understood that the vast majority of the world’s Muslims were generally peace-loving people who posed no threat to our homeland... Today, President Obama and members of his administration still refuse to use the term “radical Islam,” even as Jordan’s King Abdullah II, a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, candidly admits that the West is engaged in a “third world war” against Islamic terrorism. Abdullah adds that, at its core, “this is a Muslim problem. We need to take ownership of this. We need to stand up and say what is right and what is wrong.”

TEHRAN: 'We will trample upon America!

A senior Iranian cleric delivered Friday prayers in Tehran while standing behind a podium that declared, “We Will Trample Upon America,” according to photos released by Iran’s state-controlled media. Iranian cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani, who was handpicked by the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader to deliver the prayers, delivered a message of hostility toward the United States in the first official remarks since a final nuclear deal was signed between Iran and world powers in Vienna last week.

EPA boss threatens to come knocking on doors

Next time there is a knock at the front door, it just might be the head of the Environmental Protection Agency waiting to deliver a message.EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy dealt a warning Wednesday to Americans who do not place environmental stewardship above everything else."If you are selling to somebody a product, and you can assure them that that product was produced in the most environmentally responsible way, I will guarantee you that they will value that product more highly," McCarthy said at the 2015 GreenGov symposium at George Washington University in Washington.

TSA hearing interrupted by bomb threat

A Senate hearing about the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) recent failure to identify prohibited weapons in security tests at airports across the country was interrupted on Tuesday by a bomb threat. Lawmakers on the Senate Homeland Security Committee were getting their first chance to question officials about the findings of the TSA report, documented a series of undercover sting operations in which agents tried to pass through security with prohibited items; much of its findings remain classified. The panel’s chairman interrupted testimony to announce the floor of the Senate Dirksen Office Building where the TSA hearing was being held in was being evacuated. Senate Dems threaten to oppose deal on Medicare doc fees

Democratic senators would oppose a potential House bipartisan deal preventing cuts in physicians’ Medicare payments if it doesn’t finance a children’s health program for four years, senior Senate Democratic aides said Sunday.

The aides issued the threat as House bargainers try preventing a 21 percent reduction in doctors' Medicare reimbursements scheduled for April 1.

The Spending Threat to Our National Defense

Consider it a warning from the highest levels of the U.S. government. Yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta held a joint press event in Washington in which they cautioned that U.S. debt is jeopardizing America’s ability to ensure national security and preserve its interests abroad. End of the Line

Why the EPA Train Wreck Must be Stopped - Behind the scenes, while Washington and the United States focus on the debt crisis, President Obama’s EPA has been quietly implementing one of the most radical and costly policies of his administration. Ever since the failure of cap-and-trade, the administration has turned to the EPA to carry out its radical environmental agenda. Immediately after the 2010 election Obama was quoted saying “Cap-and-trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way.” The EPA is in the process of completing and finalizing 30 major regulations and 170 major policy rules that would impose hundreds of billions of dollars of compliance costs on the economy, killing jobs and threatening the economic recovery. Because of the disastrous affects that the EPA’s new regulations will have on the already struggling economy, many have taken to calling the administration’s aggressive stance the “EPA train wreck.”

Belmont Club: The Janus Shield

4/26/2011 by Richard Fernandez - The National Journal says the administration is negotiating a legal framework with Russia that would allow it to exchange sensitive technical information with Moscow, including data on missile defense.
[Excerpt] 39 Republican Senators wrote to the President in mid-April this year and urged him not to enter into any agreements that would give Russia a “red-button” veto over missile defense, including the transfer of sensitive technology. The letter seems to object precisely to the kind of sharing contemplated by the Defense Technology Cooperation Agreement which “would not require congressional approval”. Read more at Belmont Club...

March 1: Benton County ‘Riparian and Wetlands’ Meeting in Alsea

ALSEA VALLEY VOICE, Last Updated 02/20/2011 - ATTENTION! IMPORTANT MEETING MARCH 1st FOR RIPARIAN AND WETLAND OWNERS - "On Oct 27th Benton County held a meeting to present to the community the results of the county’s project to identify and protect riparian and wetlands. At this meeting it was learned that the county was considering requiring a 50 foot setback from any river, creek, ditch, pond and wetland to be kept in natural vegetation. The county personnel held this meeting and several like it in other parts of the county in order to explain the water project and the resulting inventory to the residents. They also wanted to get the ideas and opinions of the local people before actually writing the regulations. Because only a very few people from Alsea attended this meeting and because possible regulations could affect landowners property rights, the Alsea Citizens Advisory Committee requested that another meeting be held in Alsea. As a result there will be a meeting to explain this project and answer questions and listen to ideas and concerns. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 1st at 7 pm at the Alsea Grange. (MORE MEETINGS Feb. 5 and 7)

In order to give Alsea people more opportunity to give their input an OSU graduate student, Julie Ryden, is going to come to Alsea and meet one on one with people in the ACE office in the library on Saturday, March 5th and Monday, March 7th. She will record people’s concerns and present them to the county’s Riparian and Wetlands Advisory Group (RWAG). To sign up for a time slot to talk with her call Mimi Stout at 541- 487-5444 or e-mail. or signup at the March 1st meeting.

ADDITION TO POST
Opinion by M Stout

Ever heard of the United Nations Agenda for the 21st Century (Agenda 21)? This is an agreement with the United Nations signed in 1992 by many countries including being signed by then President George H. Bush. It was never ratified by the U. S. congress but has been quietly implemented little by little by the executive branch of the country. An off shoot of Agenda 21 is the “wildlands project”. The information attached to this article explains things like why the government has closed off and decommissioned so many forest roads, why Benton County created the butterfly zone and now wants to put controls on all the riparian lands in the county. Moody’s Says U.S. Debt Could Test Triple-A Rating

NEW YORK TIMES, 3/15/2010 by David Jolly and Catherine Rampell - The gold-plated credit rating of the United States — an article of faith across America and, indeed, around the world — may be at risk in coming years as the nation copes with its growing debts. ∴ That sobering assessment, issued Monday by Moody’s Investors Service, provided a reminder that even Aaa-rated United States Treasury bonds, supposedly the safest of safe investments, could be downgraded one day if Washington failed to manage the federal debt.
