Top MIT scientist: Newest UN climate report is ‘hilariously’ flawed

“I think that the latest IPCC report has truly sunk to level of hilarious incoherence,” Dr. Richard Lindzen told Climate Depot, a global warming skeptic news site. “They are proclaiming increased confidence in their models as the discrepancies between their models and observations increase.” Read more at the Daily Caller...

From Marc Morano at Climate Depot via Australia
Even if the IPCC predictions were 100% correct... why should anyone trust them? ✧ The AGW advocates delight in making shrill claims about sceptics being funded by “Big Oil”, which the advocates believe is a perfectly good reason to dismiss much, if not all, of what they say as compromised. But what’s the difference with the IPCC? It is an organisation that is funded by “Big Green”, comprised of governments desperate to appear politically correct, vested interests from academia and business, and environmental activist groups. What goes for one, goes for the other. By analogy, anything the IPCC says must be regarded as equally compromised. ✧ The only differences, as far as I can see, are that:
    Big Green funds the AGW advocates a thousand dollars for every one dollar funding sceptics;
the IPCC shies away from transparency and open debate, whereas sceptics encourage it.

U.N. Leader Blames U.S. for Boston Bombing

U.N. Leader: U.S. ‘Israel First Ethos’ to Blame for Boston Bombing - While our nation continues to deal with the aftermath of the Boston Marathon terrorist bombings, which killed three people and wounded more than 260, jihadists and their sympathizers gloat, rationalize or turn the blame for the bombings back onto the United States and Israel. Leftists, who were so quick to accuse Tea Party members or right wingers for the bombings, have remained mostly silent as the truth of the Islamist roots of the bombing suspects became known. ✧ The suspects, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, now dead, and his younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, now in custody, were described by one U.S. government official as “aspiring jihadists.” They were led to their alleged evil act by their understanding of their Muslim faith. Tellingly, on the Russian social networking site Vkontakte, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev described his world view as “Islam.” Read more at Front Page Magazine... Read More......

Congressmen urge the UN to trample the US Constitution

Chris Cox, Executive Director of NRA-ILA - Today [Monday, July 2] begins the most important 26-day period for our Second Amendment freedoms in recent history. ✧ That’s because today, representatives from many of the world’s socialist, tyrannical and dictatorial regimes will gather at United Nations headquarters in New York for a month-long meeting, in which they’ll put the finishing touches on an international Arms Trade Treaty that could seriously restrict your freedom to own, purchase and carry a firearm. (Hat tip: Facebook: Benton County Americans for Prosperity), April 22, 2009 Speech by Tom DeWeese - Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve come a long way to get here and I have such a short time to be with you. So, let’s just get everything out on the table right now, shall we? ∴ I believe the American people, and their every action, are being ruled, regulated, restricted, licensed, registered, directed, checked, inspected, measured, numbered, counted, rated, stamped, censured, authorized, admonished, refused, prevented, drilled, indoctrinated, monopolized, extorted, robbed, hoaxed, fined, harassed, disarmed, dishonored, fleeced, exploited, assessed, and taxed to the point of suffocation and desperation. ∴ America is drowning in a sea of rules and regulations, particularly under the guise of “saving the environment.”

Maryland County Abolishes Agenda 21

CAMPAIGN FOR LIBERTY, 2/23/2011 dljholt posts article by James Simpson (Hat tip: Steve) - "The November elections marked a sea change in the political landscape at every level of government nationwide. Right now, all eyes are focused on the Wisconsin standoff between Governor Scott Walker and the public employee unions. But under the radar, completely overlooked by the mass media, is the unprecedented move recently taken by newly-elected Carroll County, Maryland Commissioners Richard Rothschild, Robin Frazier, Haven Shoemaker, Dave Roush and Doug Howard, who abolished the County’s Office of Sustainability. They then voted unanimously to drop out of the UN’s International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). They are the first governmental organization to do so." TAS: Justice Loses Its Stars and Stripes

(Hat tip: Carolyn Webb) There is an email circulating that perhaps originated from a mid July article by The Prowler, a contributing writer at The American Spectator. The Prowler posted the following:
What's black and white and "red" all over? The Department of Justice's newly designed website. Gone are the standard red, white, and blue motifs, replaced by an all-black backdrop. And prominently placed on virtually every page of the site is a quote credited to a man who facilitated a greater role for socialists and communists at the U.N., and the global "workers rights movement."
What is the quote and who wrote it? Read the rest at The American Spectator...

iT News: UN talks on Internet Regulation labelled "offensive"

iTnews (au), 12/20/2010 - US Congresswoman offers resolution: Hands off the internet! ∴ US politicians have responded to moves from within the United Nations to form an inter-Government panel to regulate the internet, putting forward a resolution demanding the UN maintain a "hands-off approach". ∴ Responding to an exclusive iTnews report on the United Nations discussion (which overnight became the most read story in iTnews' history), California Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack has put forward a resolution that the United Nations and other international governmental organisations take their hands off the Internet. ∴ Introducing House Resolution 1775 [see full text at link], Mack argued that "the Internet has progressed and thrived precisely because it has not been subjected to the suffocating effect of a governmental organization's heavy hand. ∴ "The attempt of the United Nations to overtake something that is so central to our economy-like the Internet-is offensive and completely out of line," she said. ∴ "We have a hard enough time keeping the Federal Communications Commission's hands off the Internet; imagine having to convince governments like Syria, Iran and Venezuela." IPCC Official: “Climate Policy Is Redistributing The World’s Wealth”

WATTS UP WITH THAT, 11/18/2010 by Anthony Watts - Neue Zürcher Zeitung, 14 November 2010
"Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection, says the German economist and IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer. The next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated." – Ottmar Edenhofer

Get Ready for International Global Warming Lawsuits

THE BLAZE, 10/4/2010 - As government officials gather this week in Tianjin, China for negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), one group from the United Kingdom is urging developing countries to seek legal action against the world’s developed nations for their supposed role in global warming. ∴ “A large part of the relevant legal literature suggests that the main polluting nations can be held responsible under international law for the harmful effects of their greenhouse-gas emissions,” says attorney Christoph Schwarte of the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD), a UK-based environmental law group. Heartland Institute: Audit of IPCC Procedures ‘a Vindication’ but ‘Too Modest'

The Amsterdam-based InterAcademy Council (IAC), a scientific body asked to audit UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) procedures, has determined the IPCC has improperly crossed the line of policy advocacy, is not transparent enough, is prone to conflicts of interest, and has made numerous alarmist assertions that are not supported by the scientific record. IAC recommends structural reforms to fix IPCC’s flaws before IPCC’s next report, due in 2014.

The Heartland Institute for years has led criticism of the IPCC’s determination to put politics over scientific rigor to promote the dubious theory of man-made global warming. Heartland has hosted four international climate conferences, established the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), and produced and distributed millions of copies of reports, videos and books – including the 800-page Climate Change Reconsidered, the only comprehensive critique of the latest IPCC report, published in 2009.

Parental Rights at Risk

ONE NEWS NOW/CULTURE, 6/5/2010 by Charlie Butts - Gov't = caretaker, parent = babysitter: The Senate is expected to take up the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. ∴ The effort is a dangerous treaty for the family, according to pediatrician Rosemary Stein of Burlington, North Carolina, and a spokesperson for the Christian Medical Association (CMA). ∴ "It takes away the parents' rights to rear their child and gives it to the government," she explains. "The government becomes the caretaker and the guardian, and the parent becomes the babysitter. Another way to define it would be 'the government takeover of our children.'" Read more at OneNewsNow... WND: Girl Scouts challenged to repudiate abortion leader

WORLD NET DAILY, 4/2/2010 by Bob Unruh - Recommendation follows controversy over 'how-to-be-hot' brochure. The leader of Family Watch International, which works at the United Nations and around the globe with policymakers on the central role of the family, is challenging the Girl Scouts to abandon links with Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion industry player. ∴ "I believe the only way to clean up the Girl Scouts is for GSUSA to issue a nationwide policy instructing their councils to cut all ties with Planned Parenthood and to disassociate themselves from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts," said a newsletter statement from Sharon Slater. ∴ Slater was the witness who unleashed a firestorm of controversy when she documented finding Planned Parenthood's teen-sex-promoting guide "Healthy, Happy and Hot" made available to young girls at the 54th session of U.N. Commission on the Status of Women. Read more at WND...

Why Copenhagen is All Hot Air

REALCLEARPOLITICS, 12/5/2009 by Jonah Goldberg - Snip: Climategate is a big deal, but we should be clear: It's not why cap-and-trade should be scuttled, and it's not why Copenhagen will produce nothing, save enormous expense-account submissions for cookie-pushing climate diplomats. | Snip: Here is one simple, inconvenient truth: No developing country with significant and remotely accessible stocks of fossil fuels will agree to leave the stuff in the ground. Upfront money needed to ease UN climate deal

AP Report, 11/29/2009 - NEW YORK (AP) – Money on the table — perhaps $10 billion a year or more — could help close a deal in Denmark next month and keep climate talks moving toward a new global treaty in 2010. But if poorer nations see too little offered up front, the U.N. conference could end in discord. ∴ The money would help developing countries cope with ocean flooding, drought and other effects of climate change, while also helping them cut down on emissions of global-warming gases. The funds might eventually come from new sources, such as a tax on airline flights, but negotiators for now are seeking quicker infusions. ∴ "Rich countries must put at least $10 billion a year on the table to kick-start immediate action up to 2012," the U.N. climate chief, Yvo de Boer, told reporters last week in a preview of the two-week conference opening next Monday in Copenhagen.
